The Rotary Club of Solon had the privilege of honoring two of Solon’s finest on Wednesday, January 16th, during our annual First Responders’ Dinner. Selected by their peers for this recognition, Fireman Nick Rostankowski and Patrolman James Horetcki were presented awards by their Chiefs. We are so proud of these dedicated professionals, who commit themselves to saving others and living the Rotary Motto “Service above Self.”

We were joined at the event by Mayor Eddy Kraus, all Solon Councilmen, Police Chief Viland, Fire Chief Shaw, the families and friends of the honorees, and our special guest District Governor Beverly. With 85 people in attendance, this was our largest First Responders’ Dinner yet!

During the event, we also had the opportunity to induct our new Rotarian, Judy Caine, and bestow a Paul Harris Fellowship Award to Councilman Bill Russo, who has provided generous support to our club over the years.

In all, a wonderful evening filled with Rotary spirit, kinship, and eloquent speeches. The Chiefs had heartwarming stories to tell about the first responders being honored, from their dedication to service, commitment to developing themselves and others, and specifics acts of courage. Mayor Kraus had many kind words of support and encouragement for our club, and DG Beverly closed the evening by showing her appreciation for our event. We would like to thank everyone involved in such a meaningful night!
